Monica:
Master's Level Counselor

Hi! I’m Monica (she/her), a cis-gender lesbian living in Georgia with my partner and a backyard full of pine trees, birds, and beautiful sunsets. I’m the parent of neurodivergent kiddos and am now discovering and learning about my own ND brain. I recently finished a run as a school counselor where the highlights of my day were the sessions (or even moments) when students shared their struggles, triumphs, heartbreaks, and joys.

My anthropology background has shaped my counseling and my view of humanity. I have learned there are as many perspectives as there are people in the world so I bring curiosity, openness, and compassion to my work. My integrated counseling approach is trauma-informed, multicultural, strengths-based, and whole-person focused. I enjoy helping clients discover and build on their own skills of emotional awareness and regulation, and integrate these into everyday life. I often incorporate mindfulness, play, and the expressive arts (ie: photography, art, journaling, music, movement) into my practice, which can create more channels toward insight and healing.

I believe you, as my client, know at your deepest level what you need to experience satisfaction and wellbeing. I want to help you connect (reconnect) and align with this inner self to find greater meaning and purpose. This, however, can be difficult, especially when moving through big life changes such as those concerning identity, religious transitions, relationships, grief, and loss. We can explore who you are and who you want to be.

I believe there is no arrival at being a “perfect” counselor. My own life adventure is, like yours, constantly unfolding, and I love that I get the opportunity to continually learn and grow along with you.

If this resonates and you’re ready to take the next step together, contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!

As I move toward full licensure as a counselor, I will be working under the supervision of Melinda and Pamela. This means I will be reviewing and discussing my counseling with them to ensure you are receiving the best client care.
